Digital Free-Form

The term “Free-Form” refers to the advanced computer-controlled manufacturing process that reduces aberrations created from the traditional manufacturing of conventional lenses.  Also call digital high-definition lenses, free-form lenses can be processed in increments of .01 diopters compared to 0.125 diopters by the conventional method.  Some digital free-form lenses even take into account how the lenses are positioned in front of the wearer’s eyes when mounted in the eyeglass frame such as the angle between the back surface of the lens and the eye.  This provides the most accurate lens power and the sharpest vision possible.

Compared to the difference between a tube television and a high-definition television, this type of  high-definition lens is considered to be the most important improvement in prescription eyewear in the last 100 years.  High-definition lenses are available in single-vision and progressive (no-line bifocal) lens designs and virtually every material such as high-index, polycarbonate, photochromic and polarized.
